Russian TV Threatens Britain with a “Radioactive Tsunami”

02.11.2025

A “radioactive tsunami” will strike the British Isles, wiping out cities, warned Russian state TV “military expert” Andrey Klintsevich. Speaking about the Poseidon nuclear torpedo, he claimed the weapon could unleash a devastating underwater explosion. Host Vladimir Solovyov replied indifferently, “What can we do?” before later clashing with politician Vasily Vakarov over Russia’s strike on the Kyiv dam.

Klintsevich said Russia plans to equip the Poseidon with the same type of nuclear engine used in the 9M730 Burevestnik cruise missile. “A new generation of engines that opens up unique possibilities for various purposes,” he said.

“For the U.S., Britain, and parts of Europe, this isn’t just a threat — they don’t know how to respond. Their monitoring systems won’t detect it. Britain could be hit by a tsunami and never know where it came from. A radioactive wave will wash away its cities,” he warned.

His remarks came soon after President Vladimir Putin announced a successful test of the Poseidon system, describing it as “unmatched in speed” and “impossible to intercept.” The weapon, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, is designed to trigger a radioactive tsunami upon detonation near a coastline.

The statements were highlighted by the Russian Media Monitor project, founded by U.S. — Ukrainian journalist Julia Davis of The Daily Beast, who is currently sanctioned by Russia.

Threats toward Britain and Europe are common in Russian state media — even though many relatives of Russian officials reside in European capitals.
