A fire has broken out at the Bratislava oil refinery, owned by Hungary’s MOL Group. The plant processes Russian crude delivered via the “Druzhba” pipeline.
In recent days, explosions have also been reported at Hungary’s largest refinery, which handles Russian oil, as well as at a Lukoil-owned refinery in Romania.
The Bratislava refinery, operated by Slovnaft Plc, has a processing capacity of 124,000 barrels per day (6.1 million tonnes annually). Established in 1957, it is one of Europe’s most complex refineries (NCI = 11.5). Its petrochemical unit, Slovnaft Petrochemicals (SPC), is integrated within MOL’s downstream operations.
