A powerful explosion rocked a TNT and ammunition storage facility operated by STV Group in Polička’s engineering complex in Bosiny, shortly before 9 a.m. today. One person was trapped under debris and is in critical condition, according to emergency services. Police, firefighters, and medics are on the scene, with 11 fire crews battling to secure the area.
Authorities suspect a technical malfunction in one of the production units triggered the blast. The facility has been evacuated, and a safety perimeter established, with nearby roads closed. A police helicopter equipped with thermal imaging is monitoring the site, and a medical helicopter from Olomouc was dispatched to assist.
“This is a serious incident, and we are fully cooperating with emergency services,” said David Hac, chairman of STV Group’s board. “The safety of our employees and the surrounding community is our top priority.” Police have deployed third-degree fire alert units due to the hazardous nature of the operation.
