«We’ll send Dana Drábová at them» — Czechs raise funds for a missile that can reach Moscow

22.10.2025

The “Gift for Putin” initiative has launched a new fundraiser named after the recently deceased chair of the State Office for Nuclear Safety, Dana Drábová, seeking CZK 12.5 million to buy a missile capable of striking Moscow or St. Petersburg. The weapon is being dubbed “DANA 1.”

The fund’s description claims that Drábová, who died on October 6, told its organizers two years ago she would not object to having a weapon named after her. “Unfortunately this only came up after Dana passed away. But if she’s looking down on us from above, we believe she’s having a royal laugh,” the organisers write, introducing the flat-trajectory missile called DANA 1.

Although the campaign does not specify a model, it includes an illustration of a pink flamingo — a clear reference to Ukraine’s FP-5 “Flamingo” missile, which has already been used against targets deep inside Russia. The initiative says the manufacturer they contacted quoted CZK 12.5 million; after payment the missile will be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who will decide timing and target.

“Gift for Putin” has previously raised money for items such as “Tank Tomáš,” vehicles, drones and explosives for Ukraine, and has also funded medical supplies — including a past fundraiser for a Kyiv children’s hospital after a Russian attack.

The Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo reportedly has a range of up to 3,000 km, a speed of about 900 km/h and a warhead mass up to 1,150 kg — enough to reach Moscow or St. Petersburg.
